How to book your lung health check

What to do when you receive your invitation

If eligible, you will receive a letter in the post inviting you to book a lung health check appointment. Please call the booking team on 0330 236 8484 to book your appointment. It's important to have the reference number on your letter to hand, as you will be asked to provide this, along with your details.

If the line is busy, please leave a message with your name and contact details and a member of the booking team will contact you within two days.

If you are unsure as to whether to book a lung health check, then please speak to the booking team about any concerns or questions you may have.

What to do if you don’t receive an invitation

If you are registered with one of the listed GP practices in Southwark, Greenwich, Lambeth and Lewisham, then you should have received an invitation.

The check will be offered to all eligible residents in south east London by 2026, so if your GP practice isn't currently listed don't worry, you will recieve a letter when the programme is live at your practice.

Remember, in order to be invited you must be:

  • Aged 55 to 74
  • Registered with a participating GP Practice.
  • Registered as a current smoker or you have previously smoked with your GP.

You’re not eligible but have concerns

If you have any symptoms you are worried about, for instance a persistent cough that you have had for three weeks or more, feeling breathless, or experiencing unexplained weight loss then you should make an appointment with your GP.
